Charrettes and Community Meetings

A charrette is a collaborative planning session in which stakeholders such as residents, business people, city and county officials and developers gather to help shape the vision of a major project.

For Ward Neighborhood, listening to the community is of utmost importance. To date, we have had nearly 95 meetings with groups and individuals, numbering over 1,200 people. These meetings have included:

  • Kaka'ako and Honolulu residents
  • Ala Moana/Kaka'ako neighborhood board members
  • Hawaiian cultural advisors
  • Native Hawaiian organizations
  • Environmental groups
  • Kaka'ako business owners
  • Ward Centers merchants
  • Labor union representatives
  • Building trade representatives
  • Civic and business leaders
  • Industry and tourism representatives
  • Government officials
  • Honolulu landowners/developers
